About Us
Mission
To make good oral health attainable and affordable to any member of our community, by providing consumer advocacy, oral health education and preventive dental services—to achieve and sustain healthy people and healthy communities.
History
- 2003—Registered dental hygienists, Kate Mills and Nan Bucklin-Hawkes, form Washington State Smile Partners (WSSP).
- 2004 to 2006—WSSP achieves non-profit status and expands its in-school program to schools in Kitsap County, Federal Way, Seattle and King County. Service is also provided at the preschool level including Head Start and ECEAP preschools.
- 2007—WSSP initiates Smiles for Life, providing oral health services to seniors at the Bainbridge Island Senior Center. It also starts Smart Smiles, a 2-year multi-county elementary school pilot program designed to document the impact of in-school preventive dental care.
- 2008—WSSP launches Mom and Me Cavity Free, a ground-breaking 2-year pilot program for pregnant women and babies at Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale.
- 2009 to 2011—WSSP continues to expand its program to new schools and preschools in south King County and Kitsap County and adds service during summer months to daycare centers.
